Since this story has so much to do with the concept of fatalism, I've come to realize how much liberty my characters actually have. I mean, I don't remember the last time a line of dialogue ever translated perfectly from my head onto the page, or a character performed a motion precisely how I had thought they would. Characters do write their own stories, at least to a small extent.
